ICC The Compliance Center is pleased to offer a revolutionary web-based training program for the WHMIS Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System regulations.

The Canadian Hazardous Products Act assigns clear responsibilities to both the supplier of hazardous products and the employer.Training, labeling and hazard communication through technical information sheets are mandatory aspects of this legislation. What is WHMIS? How does it affect you? What are the requirements? Whether you are a chemical supplier, an employer, an importer or a person involved in the day-to-day use of these products, you must know about WHMIS!

The goals of this training course are to:

• Familiarize you with the concepts of the WHMIS system
• Allow you to recognize hazardous materials in the workplace
• Help you to protect yourself from these hazardous materials
• and to certify you in the following areas; Purpose and Structure of the legislation and regulations - Responsibilities - Classification - Supplier Labels - Workplace Labels - Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) - Training Requirements - Additional Sources of Information

This course will be broken into a series of modules. At the end of each one,
you will be asked to answer some questions to indicate your level of understanding.

The modules are:

1. Legislation and regulations

• Learn the signification of WHMIS.
• Know about the training requirements.
• Learn about the various Legislation and Regulations that make up the WHMIS system

2. Classification of Hazardous Materials

• Learn about the WHMIS Hazard symbols and the dangers associated with them

3. Hazard Labels, including

• Supplier labels, applied by the manufacturer or distributor; and
• Workplace labels, that you will apply to unlabelled hazardous materials in your workplace

4. Material Safety Data Sheets, or MSDS’s

• Learn about the WHMIS Material Safety Data sheet requirements
